Starfish Safeguarding Policy

Self defence . Empowering women

“My time with the Starfish Foundation was so special. We prepared baby boxes for expectant mothers and ensured new parents had strollers for their young ones.

My most memorable project though was helping to organise self defence classes for single women and unaccompanied girls. It was incredible to watch their confidence grow and even with all the language barriers, there was a lot of laughing.”

— Bethany Snow

A refugee enjoying his arrival on the Lesvos by singing us a song

“I met strong, committed people who wanted to make the world a better place. I met people from all different walks of life. I am still in touch with many of them today. I met people of all ages and experiences pulling together. I laughed till I cried. I cried and cried some more. I sang and I talked, and I listened. I met generosity and friendship.”

— Amanda Cawood
